Forbo to champion low carbon design at Clerkenwell Design Week

With the emphasis on creating beautiful and sustainable spaces, Forbo Flooring Systems is delighted to once again be opening the doors of its EC1 showroom for Clerkenwell Design Week (CDW), where the manufacturer will be showcasing its range of low embodied carbon flooring solutions.

Forbo will be welcoming visitors back into its EC1 showroom, located on St John Street, for the annual Clerkenwell Design Week, taking place from 19-21 May 2026. For 2026, Forbo’s focus is on sustainability and how beautifully co-ordinated colour palettes, textures and finishes can be seamlessly brought together, enabling effortless, responsible and very low carbon designs.

Visitors to the Forbo showroom can expect to learn more about its wide variety of low-carbon floor coverings, including the climate positive (carbon negative) Marmoleum range. One of the most sustainable floor coverings on the market, featuring 98% natural raw materials like pine rosin and limestone, every square metre of Marmoleum removes 663g of CO2 from the atmosphere.

As well as this, Forbo will be featuring its Tessera Evolve+ carpet tile series, made up of five individual ranges. The collection focuses on product evolution for low embodied carbon without offsetting, utilising innovative yarn systems such as Thrive® matter by Universal Fibers® or 100% ECONYL® regenerated polyamide 6 solution dyed yarn. Combined with Forbo’s lean production processes and 100% renewable energy manufacturing (electricity and biogas), these collections deliver incredibly low embodied carbon values across all five ranges – less than 2kg COper square metre eqv. A1-A3, without offsetting – and over 75% recycled content.

Also on show will be the manufacturer’s vinyl portfolio, most notably the newly launched Sphera Elite b+ collection. Through the incorporation of innovative bio-circular materials, the range contains 43% recycled and 23% bio-circular content, using allocated used cooking oil via a mass-balance approach. Manufactured in factories using 100% renewable electricity and embracing efficient manufacturing methods, Sphera Elite b+ has one of the lowest embodied carbons for a homogeneous sheet vinyl on the market of just 2.94kg COe/m2, and a reduced carbon footprint of nearly 50% (A1-A3) compared to its standard Sphera offering.

Donna Hannaway, Head of Marketing UK and Ireland from Forbo Flooring Systems, said: “It’s always an exciting time of year when CDW comes back around; it’s a fantastic chance for designers, architects and specifiers to come into our showroom and experience everything we have to offer. This year we really want to show visitors how easy it is to combine low carbon solutions and great design across multiple flooring types, all from one portfolio! Whether you’re looking for a carpet tile, vinyl solution or something unique – like Marmoleum – we have a solution that fits the need of any sector, as well as meeting modern building environmental requirements.”

In addition to learning about its sustainable floor coverings, visitors will have the chance to enjoy some very special sweet treats from CAKE by Hannah Jones.

Forbo is also sponsoring Material Source’s seminar, hosted in its newly opened London space. Guests will be exploring the practical obstacles designers face when specifying new materials, from supply-chain transparency, testing standards, fire and acoustic performance and ethical sourcing, to cost implications, scalability and client expectations. Starting at 2pm on the 20th May, it’s a must visit for those curious about the changing face of the design industry.
