RENOLIT ALKORPLAN supports Tectum Group in developing a roofing solution for Velodrome Heusen-Zolder

RENOLIT ALKORPLAN has support Tectum Group in developing the roof for the new Velodrome Heusen-Zolder, a cutting-edge sports facility for track cycling.

RENOLIT ALKORPLAN roofing products have participated in the project for the new Velodrome Heusen- Zolder, a brand-new sports facility in Belgium for track cycling at the highest level. The company participated in the implementation work on the roof of the structure to assist one of its customers, Tectum Group.

Tectum Group, with whom RENOLIT ALKORPLAN roofing products have an established relationship based on trust and support, asked the company to consult and support with this massive project.

An ambitious project for a sports facility of excellence

This project was, in fact, very complex both for its scale and timeline requirement. The facility was designed to become a landmark for local and international sport, combining an appealing aesthetic appearance with a range of services to attract athletes from all over the world.

Velodrome Heusen- Zolder was conceived to be, in fact, much more than a cycling track: the structure houses also a fitness space, an equipped gym hall, and a performance laboratory (for elite sport education, training and coaching).

Tectum Group was in charge of the 9,500 mq2 roofing area and has chosen to rely on RENOLIT ALKORPLAN roofing products both for their innovative approach and its technical expertise.

“From the very beginning, the Tectum Group opted for the application of a PVC roofing membrane and chose RENOLIT ALKORPLAN roofing products for practical and technical support, mainly on site, even before preparation. This included wind calculations, creating an installation plan, working out the details together, and finishing with a thorough final inspection”, explains Koen Mangelschots, Business Unit Manager, Tectum Group.

Flexibility, lightness, and sustainability with RENOLIT ALKORPLAN F membrane

For the project, the partners opted for the RENOLIT ALKORPLAN F membrane.

“We decided to finish the roof using our RENOLIT ALKORPLAN F 1.5 mm, which is reinforced using a polyester inlay, which makes it excellently suitable for mechanical fastening which was also applied here”, says Bert Geubbelmans, Area Manager RENOLIT ALKORPLAN roofing products.

“Since this product is very flexible and supple, it is the most suitable roofing membrane for finishing a complex shape like Velodrome into an aesthetic entirety”, he adds.

Quick and easy to apply, regardless of weather conditions, the system provides a perfect and durable watertightness of the roof. In addition, in case of renovation or demolition, the mechanically fixed membrane can be easily removed and recycled, sign of RENOLIT ALKORPLAN roofing products’ commitment to sustainability starts with the design of its products.

The Project developed with customer Tectum Group shows how the technical support of RENOLIT ALKORPLAN roofing products’ experts makes it possible to overcome the challenges of even the most complex projects. Inaugurated in 2023, Heusen- Zolder Velodrome is already a benchmark for indoor cycling at international level and it is set to host European Track Championships in 2025 and 2028.
