Norbord’s popular flooring solution, CaberDek, was used during an Army Basing Programme project in Tidworth, Wiltshire. The Army Basing Programme provides housing and improved facilities to Service personnel, helping over 100 Army units to relocate in the UK, following the government’s commitment to bring back all units from Germany by 2020.
One of the Army Basing Programme projects in Salisbury Plain included the Ashdown Estate (previously known as Area 19), Tidworth. This development not only saw Taylor Lane Timber Frames supply and erect timber frame kits for 322 homes, but also made use of Norbord’s innovative CaberDek.
Taylor Lane needed a reliable material that would be easy to use across the development’s three and four bedroom houses. CaberDek, with its protective peelable covering, was the obvious choice to fulfil requirements, allowing work to continue even before the roof was in place by maintaining a waterproof surface during adverse weather conditions.
CaberDek flooring panels offer increased protection from weather and dirt for up to 42 days. A spokesperson from Taylor Lane commented,
“We use CaberDek for its finish. When it is installed and taped into place and the peelable film is removed, it gives a great watertight finish and leaves the floor clean once the project is complete. We recommend CaberDek for use in all of our houses.”
