Large-scale projects share a common challenge: a design has to hold up across dozens, sometimes hundreds, of bathrooms, while meeting rising expectations for hygiene and cost-efficiency. Villeroy & Boch’s Architectura collection was developed with this brief in mind, offering architects and planners one coherent design language that runs from washbasins and WCs through to baths, fittings and furniture.
Hygiene performance, built in
At the core of the collection is TwistFlush, a vortex flush technology that combines thorough cleaning with efficient water use. Precisely directed water jets create a controlled vortex inside the conical bowl, flushing nearly 100% of the interior surface and carrying dirt away with it. The flush performs reliably with just 3 or 4.5 litres of water, in line with EN 997.
The controlled water flow also reduces splashback, limiting the spread of aerosols during flushing – a detail that matters increasingly in healthcare, hospitality and educational projects, where hygiene specifications are becoming a standard part of the brief. Combined with the dirt-repellent CeramicPlus finish and the optional AntiBac antibacterial glaze, which reduces bacterial growth on the glazed surface by 99.9% (tested according to ), TwistFlush gives specifiers a documented answer to hygiene requirements without adding complexity to the design.
Built with installation and maintenance in mind
TwistFlush is available across every wall-mounted toilet in the Architectura range, in round and square silhouettes, including a compact model and a version with the concealed ViFix fixing system. For contractors, this means faster, top-mounted installation through the seat holes – a detail that adds up to real time savings on site across a multi-unit project.
The urinal system follows the same logic: the tool-free ViChange cartridge allows servicing without removing the fixture, and the optional ProDetect 2 sensor combines vandal-resistant durability with efficient water use, lowering maintenance effort over the building’s lifetime.
Consistent design across every budget and floor plan
Washbasins, furniture, baths and taps share the same geometric design language, so architects can specify once and apply it consistently – whether the project is a single show-home bathroom or a thousand-unit residential development. Back-to-wall baths integrate cleanly into the wall line, while five furniture finishes and two coordinated tap series (Architectura and the more angular Architectura Square) allow the collection to adapt across budget tiers and interior styles without breaking design continuity.
For specifiers
Architectura gives planners a single, coordinated system for large-scale bathroom projects: documented hygiene performance, faster on-site installation and lower maintenance effort, combined with the design flexibility to adapt to different building types and budgets.
