Trio of Directors grows team at Award-Winning Practice

An Award-Winning architecture practice has added a trio of directors as it looks to capitalise on two decades of continued success.

Marchini Curran Associates – which is based in Nottingham’s Lace Market – has appointed Kevin Smith, Justin Ziegler and Andrew Bull as directors, placing them alongside company founders Nick Marchini and Des Curran.

The trio has a combined 35 years’ service at Marchini Curran and have all previously served as part of its leadership team for a number of years before moving into the director role.

The appointments come as the practice celebrates 20 years since opening its doors in 2002, during which time it has delivered a wide range of projects in both the UK and overseas, including Clarendon Square, a large urban regeneration scheme in the centre of Oxford, major data centres for a range of clients and retail interiors for MUJI across the UK and Europe.

Covering interior design, engineering and planning consultancy, alongside architecture, the practice has earned a strong reputation based on its multi-disciplinary capabilities and internal infrastructure.

Des Curran, director of Marchini Curran Associates, said:

“We’re delighted to add Kevin, Justin and Andrew to our board of directors. They are all long-serving members of the team and have already added enormously to what we offer, with their industry knowledge and experience across all of our core areas.”

“Most importantly, they bring a real energy and passion to continue the hard work that has set this company in good stead over the past 20 years. This is a hugely positive transition for the business and sets the tone as we set out on our next chapter. After two years of uncertainty across the industry, we’re excited for what the future holds for our clients, our projects and – most importantly – our team.”

Kevin Smith, director of Marchini Curran Associates, said:

“The real strength of the team of directors is its all-round ability – we all have skills that complement each other and bring the best out of the wider team.”

“We pride ourselves on having a great culture of progression, and we’re keen to build on the successful foundations that have been created in the past two decades.”

Justin Ziegler, director of Marchini Curran Associates, said:

“Having been at Marchini Curran for the past ten years, I’ve seen first-hand how the practice has grown and how the range of skills across the team has developed.”

“We want to continue the momentum we have currently and build on the great work we have achieved since 2002 – there is a great opportunity for the practice to go from strength to strength.”

Andrew Bull, director of Marchini Curran Associates, said:

“As one of the longest-serving members of the team, it’s been great to see the company expand and develop into new and exciting sectors. Our proven track record in the data centres, retail, leisure, cinemas and urban regeneration speaks for itself. Expanding the team of directors is key in developing the roadmap for the future of the practice.”

“We see Marchini Curran as a ‘destination employer’ – somewhere where architects and designers aspire to work – and we’re excited for what the next chapter will bring.”
