Reinforcing the need for collaborative working practices on modern construction projects, market-leading event provider, Resibuild is delighted to announce the publication of its new book: ‘The External Envelope Vision’ with the help of industry contributors.
The informative book, which features contributions from a wide range of industry leaders provides a credible source of expert opinion with regard to external envelope specifications. As such, the new resource could help the residential construction industry in adopting better practices around this important subject. Structured as a how-to guide, the new release provides valuable thought leadership from people with experience and competence on major construction projects. Each section within the guide features an interview with a relevant thought leader, as well as some key facts and figures for that specific area of discussion, which are relevant across trades.
The new document fits in line with Resibuild’s brand identity and mission statement. Since its initial inception, the construction events company has made great strides in helping to drive thought leadership within the residential construction sector. For its part, Sapphire has helped to support the book’s production through its extensive industry connections, technical knowledge and access to high-quality photography. Through the new publication, both companies have provided an opportunity for experts across different fields to communicate directly with one another. As such, the publication could help to formulate new solutions to long-standing issues.
In total, the new document features almost 90 unique contributions from an incredibly extensive range of organisations and companies involved in the built environment sector. This includes contributions from experts at Clarion Housing, the National House Building Council, the National Fire Chiefs Council, L&Q, Berkeley Homes, Wates and Willmott Dixon. As a result, the new publication is helping to identify points of convergence between different sectors and reinforcing the need for more holistic working practices in the construction sector.
Speaking on the new publication, David Jones, Director of Education and Training at the Institute of Construction Management commented: “This book brings together a unique body of around eighty expert authors at a critical stage in the recent timeline of the construction industry. The important messages in this book can help readers to understand how essential effective collaboration could be in improving both individual projects and the wider built environment. Resibuild is perfectly positioned to lead on the writing of this book. The company’s educational events already offer a good vantage point and bring together an incredible wealth of industry skills, knowledge, and experience into a single reference source.”
Broadly speaking, the new publication is structured into three sections. The first focusses on aspects to consider when creating initial plans for a building, including infrastructure, neighbourhood, and environmental concerns. Featuring contributions from heralded architects like Scott Brownrigg and Sheppard Robson, the first section should serve as inspiration to those interested in the design elements of building projects. The section explains how modern building projects can be used to create a sense of community and neighbourhood, as well as discussing how best to reflect the sense of culture from an area back into a project’s design plan.
Next, the document concentrates on how to ensure the successful delivery of a project. To this end, the delivery section details key considerations around product selection, ensuring compliance, safety, fire risk and quality control. Additionally, the section discusses issues that developers and architects may not be aware of at the design stage, which can later impact work on-site. Similarly, the section details how businesses can best maximise on-site efficiencies, as well as the potential to use collaboration with key members of the supply chain at the design stage to improve performance at the delivery stage.
Finally, the publication turns its focus to the maintenance of buildings post-occupancy and considers the legacy they often leave for property management teams. This section also focusses on the role of the resident within developments, detailing their potential to change a building long term through their activities. In keeping with the overall interconnected philosophy of the book, the final section ties back into the previous two chapters and highlights how all three parts must work in harmony in order to achieve the best results.
Speaking on the new release, Nick Haughton, Head of Marketing UK & Global at Sapphire commented: “We’re delighted to have played a significant role both contributing and facilitating the creation of this new book. The publication provides an engaging and informative look at some key issues and discussions around external envelope specification. In interviewing these industry experts we’ve illuminated some interesting points for those in the trade to consider. From practical how-to guides on technical specifications, to more philosophical articles detailing the importance of fostering social value on developments, we believe the book should be considered a ‘must-read’ for those working in the residential construction sector.”
To support the new release, Resibuild will be launching the book during an exclusive event at the Shard on 4th November 2021. The exciting event will feature keynote speeches from contributors to the publication and provide a space for important industry networking discussions. Once released, the book will be distributed to specifiers and decision-makers within the residential construction industry, as well as abroad.
