Networking event for sustainability leaders set for December

Supported by Saint-Gobain, an exclusive networking event is to be staged in London this December aimed at construction sustainability innovators who are “committed to implementing change in the industry.”

Sustainability consultant Darren Evans has launched the Thrive in Construction Networking event, with the exact location and date to be revealed on 21 October to subscribers to a ‘waitlist.’

The founder and MD of Darren Evans Ltd, which provides whole-life carbon assessments, net-zero strategies, and sustainable design certifications, decided to stage the event on the back of his successful Thrive in Construction podcast. He has interviewed a variety of leading professionals to hear their journey to drive sustainability in construction in different ways, including overcoming personal struggles.

The event will see Evans bring together some of the podcast interviewees to reconnect, share their progress, and continue debates, as well as hosting an informal gathering allowing other professionals to network.

Some of the “industry professionals, thought leaders, and changemakers” so far interviewed have included Martin Townsend, director of the centre of excellence for sustainability at BSI, Jess Hrivnak, practice technical adviser at RIBA, Anna Foden, head of sustainability at ISG, and Richard Fitton, professor of energy performance of Buildings at the University of Salford. Others include Scott Tacchi from Robert McAlpine, Ali Sanduk from Chapman Taylor, Gaynor Tennant, founder of Offsite Alliance, and Danielle Michakka, group technical innovation manager, Barratt Developments, and Stephanie Edwards, co-founder of Urban Symbiotics.

Darren Evans commented: “We’ve seen an overwhelming demand for this event, and it’s clear that professionals in the built environment are eager for more opportunities to connect and discuss real-world solutions to the challenges we face. This networking event is all about facilitating meaningful conversations, sharing insights, and creating practical takeaways that attendees can apply in their work. We’re thrilled to have so many people and top organisations already on board to help make this event a success.”

The Thrive In Construction Event will gather industry leaders, sustainability experts, and construction professionals to “discuss the future of the built environment and explore practical solutions for achieving sustainability in the sector.” It will include structured panel discussions, networking opportunities including with guests from the podcast, and Q&A sessions “focused on transforming the construction industry.”

The ‘waitlist’ for tickets has been launched for those interested to attend, with the event limited to 50 attendees. Those signing up will receive further information on the date and venue on 21 October. To join the waitlist, go to

The organisers commented: “Due to high demand and limited capacity, the event will be ticketed to ensure the right mix of serious professionals who are committed to implementing change in the industry. Professionals from across the construction and sustainability sectors are invited to join the waitlist to secure their chance to attend.”
