MAX FRANK prioritise fire safety and thermal performance where balcony connectors are specified

Thermal Breaks and Fire Safety Compliance

Over the last decade the importance of balconies has increased dramatically due to the desire to enjoy an outside living space. Presented by MAX FRANK’s thermal break specialist, Simon Howland, our CPD presentation covers not only structural aspects of BBA certified thermal break units and the way in which they work within concrete structures, but also the paramount importance of the fire safety aspects of A1 non-combustible stone wool insulation.

Non-combustibility:

We are proud of our dedication to ensure the highest possible fire safety standards when it comes to thermal breaks. Known for its non-combustibility and incredible fire resistance, stone wool insulation does not burn and has a high melting point of over 1,000°C – and thus;

  • Stone wool does not produce toxic fumes
  • Stone wool does not produce smoke
  • Stone wool can therefore help in containing and slowing the spread of fire and smoke

Using non-combustible construction solutions is a responsible design decision, especially for high-risk situations with multiple occupancy buildings and densely populated areas, including those with vulnerable occupants such as in health and education sectors.

Hydrophobic properties:

Stone wool boasts exceptional water repellent properties. When in contact with moisture, the thermal and fire-resistant properties of the stone wool are not compromised.

Long-term performance:

Stone wool is durable and its non-combustibility performance lasts a lifetime, with no maintenance required. So, this incredible insulation continues to limit heat loss and reduces the risk of surface condensation throughout its service life.

The building physics behind thermal bridging is also explained with a preview of the latest software.

Our seminars include a complimentary lunch and attendance certificates are issued on completion for your professional development diary.
