The Flower Bowl in Preston, Lancashire is a new and extraordinary mixed leisure destination that is home to Lyndon’s luxurious handcrafted and bespoke seating solutions specified throughout the venue’s premium cinema and bowling alley.
Comprising of one large, single storey 4,200m2 building with an undulating grass roof to give a natural appearance, The Flower Bowl boasts a state-of-the-art cinema with three screens showing a variety of classic films, recent release and live events. The design theme of each screen centres around a leading movie actress and flower. To emulate this and create an intimate and sophisticated viewing experience, each screen is adorned with Lyndon’s plush two-seater sofas and armchairs that are finished in opulent velvets and patterned fabrics.
Whilst the Elizabeth Taylor screen showcases a stunning rich midnight blue theme, matching a Clematis ‘Rhapsody’ flower, the Ingrid Bergman smoulders in deep plum befitting a Cosmos ‘Spellbound’. The Uma Thurman screen has a fiery orange look corresponding to a Dahlia ‘Pulp Fiction’ flower.
Offering optimal space and comfort, each sofa and armchair incorporates an oak side table, whilst complementary bespoke footstools in the same fabric grace the front row seats. Coordinating cushions and mood lighting accentuate the vibrant colours; helping bring each screen to life.
Lyndon bespoke banquette seating was also specified within the venue’s ten pin bowling alley – aptly named the Copper Bowl – that has eight bowling lanes, two of which are located separately for private parties. Featuring a series of one-armed banquettes placed back to back, the seating oozes comfort and functionality, and cleverly maximises the use of space. Bearing the Lyndon stamp of handcrafted luxury, the banquettes reflect the elegance and sophistication of The Flower Bowl.
Commenting on the specification of Lyndon’s seating, Julia Critchley, Guest Services Manager at the Flower Bowl, says:
“The owners of The Flower Bowl scoured the world for the latest leisure trends when designing this exciting venue. Lyndon’s bespoke furniture not only fits seamlessly with the aesthetic desired for The Flower Bowl, it helps create a stunning and distinctive space.”
Managing Director at Lyndon, Tim Armitt, comments:
“It was a pleasure working with the team at this magnificent leisure complex. The project is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our bespoke furniture service and skilled craftsmanship that can satisfy numerous design and spatial requirements. At this venue, the furniture works perfectly in both the cinema and the bowling alley; enhancing the quality and sophistication of the interior.”
The Flower Bowl continues the wave of ‘experience spaces’ that is sweeping the UK and is an extension of Preston’s famous Barton Grange Garden Centre. In addition to the luxury cinema and bowling alley, the venue offers two golf simulators, crazy golf course, two restaurants and coffee shop, together with an Olympic sized curling hall – only the second in Europe. Eco-friendly and sustainable, the building’s undulating grass roof will even come complete with its own sheep in a few years’ time.
