World-leading engineered connections specialist, Leviat, will offer architects and design professionals valuable insight into masonry support and restraint systems in a wide range of applications, unravelling the complexities of façade construction with the launch of three new RIBA-approved CPDs.
These three CPDs fall under the core curriculum category of ‘design construction and technology’, offering architects and specifiers the opportunity to earn valuable CPD points while expanding their knowledge in crucial areas of building design and construction.
Presented by Leviat’s dedicated technical experts, these new CPD courses include:
The Correct Use of Wall Ties & Head Restraints
This seminar discusses best practice in the selection and installation of common masonry fixings, focusing on cavity wall ties, frame cramps, channel restraint systems and head restraints.
Support and Restraint of Masonry Cladding on Framed Buildings
In this seminar, participants will gain a better understanding of what products are used for different applications including supporting brickwork above horizontal movement joints and offering lateral support to masonry wall panels. The seminar covers cavity wall ties, brickwork support systems, and windposts.
Considered Façade Solutions for Complex Applications
This in-depth seminar delves into wall ties, damp proof coursing, large cavities, pier arrangements, as well as slab zone components such as balcony connectors and fire barriers. It discusses how these elements can potentially impact the design of masonry support systems.
Commenting, Lisa Sherburne-Kilby of Leviat said:
“As a leading manufacturer of engineered connection solutions, we are well placed to help specifiers understand façade support and restraint, and the intricacies of designing masonry support systems. Our new CPD presentation will help architects gain an even better understanding of the critical factors involved in designing safe, efficient and long-lasting structures.”
Leviat’s CPD training can be delivered at participants’ offices – accompanied by a complimentary lunch, at Leviat’s offices in Sheffield – including a factory & office tour,
