Below, we will explore how a number of developments chose to implement the range and deliver on the requirements of their clients while maintaining that sought-after kerb appeal.
Form and function
Chosen for their practicality and aesthetic appeal, the Edgemere Interlocking Concrete Slate tiles offered a roofing solution that would complement the natural look of the log homes, making them perfect for the needs of the Foundation Matters charity.

“The natural look of the slate tile works extremely well with the striking nature of the log homes we have built and they are very pleasing to the eye. We are delighted with the product and service we received from Marley, and would thoroughly recommend the Edgemere product.”

– Jem Hudson, Foundation Matters

Low pitch, high impact

When Dudley care homes set out to build the right living environment for their elderly residents, they needed to balance speed, looks, labour & materials costs while keeping compliant with regulations, as well as granting the project a subtle premium finish.

Here is where our Riven Edgemere tiles, which feature randomised textures on their surface ensuring an attractive variegated appearance with depth and tone, provide a style that resembles natural slate.

When designing this product, we also considered the value of fast project delivery and how incorporating it within a complete dry fix solution can simplify the specification process and minimise risk. As a result, our Edgemere range features pre-cut holes enabling the use of mechanical attachments and an interlocking system, allowing the tile to be laid more quickly and with greater ease, and is compatible with a number of our dry fix solutions.

Premium looks don’t have to go over budget

At Hayfield Grange, Cala Homes selected Marley’s Duo Edgemere Concrete Interlocking Slates to deliver a refined roofscape across ten detached luxury homes.

Finished in Smooth Grey, the slates complement the stone façades and high end architectural detailing, meeting the aesthetic expectations of properties valued at over £1m.

Specified alongside Marley concrete plain tiles at the dormers, Duo Edgemere provided the desired visual quality while remaining a cost-effective solution within the overall specification.

Duo Edgemere

Designed to replicate the appearance of smaller format slates, Duo Edgemere uses a central mock bond and broken bond laying technique to achieve a crisp, slate-like finish with the efficiency of interlocking tiles. With performance down to a 17.5° pitch, low tile usage, and compatibility with the full Marley Roof System including Marley SolarTile®, it offers architects a practical, sustainable solution backed by A+ environmental credentials and BES 6001 responsible sourcing certification.

Championing transparency
Going beyond the data that roofing manufacturers usually provide, we aim to empower decision-makers to make the most suitable choices when it comes to sustainability considerations. That is why we make our Environmental Product Declarations for Marley’s range of clay, concrete, and solar offerings easily accessible.
