Get to know SWA member, Cotswold Casements

Lauren Murphy of Taylor Alden speaks to Liam Payne, General Manager of Cotswold Casements and Steel Window Association member.

How long have you been a member of the SWA?

Personally, I’m actually a new member this year (sitting on the SDG panel) but The Cotswold Casement Company has been a member for over 40 years!

What is the most exciting or interesting project you’ve worked on?

My favourite and most interesting project has been The Palace Hotel in Manchester where we installed 50+ 4m high steel screens and doors to create a Winter Garden in the hotel’s bar area. I was involved from quote to completion and even went up to have a drink in the Winter Garden when it was all completed.

What is a typical day like at Cotswold Casements?

No two days are the same at Cotswold Casements and there are always new challenges to overcome. We have a great team throughout the factory and office; and our installers are fantastic too. All have great characters which make managing Cotswold Casements an effortless task.

Are there any challenges you’ve faced – and overcome – in the recent years?

The most obvious is the pandemic and how we have overcome this in the last eighteen months. We feel we adapted really well and managed to keep our entire workforce safe throughout while maintaining a high level of orders too.

What is your fondest memory of being a part of the SWA?

I’m very new but I’m looking forward to creating many memories in the coming years.

How long have you worked at Cotswold Casements?

I’ve been here for 11 years.

What was your first job?

I started in the local supermarket part-time and my first full-time position was here at Cotswold Casements.

What was the best piece of advice you have been given?

Take time to think about your decisions. Not everything has to be decided instantly.

Where is dream holiday destination?

Las Vegas and LA – where I was due to go this year but, unfortunately, I had to cancel.

Tipple of choice?

Estrella

If you had to choose another career, what would it be?

Professional footballer

What is your death row meal – starter, main and dessert?

Calamari, Lasagne, Salted caramel cheesecake
