Earth retaining walls, Betoconcept combines structure and aesthetics

A large-scale hospital redevelopment site featured a number Betoconcept earth retaining walls from the team at Grass Concrete Ltd.

The first retaining wall required a 4-metre high Betoatlas wall in red colour with the rear of the wall incorporating a structural backfill reinforced with Betonap geo-grid. This had to work around contiguous concrete piles and incorporate a footbridge link to the main building. With a limited width available, the piles were clad vertically with stone finish Leromur blocks which transitioned into an inclined planted Betoatlas structure.

A second phase of the works saw a Betoatlas earth retaining wall as a car park surround. This called for an existing brick structure to be buttressed as part of the works.

Betoconcept blocks provide adequate soil pockets for all types of plants, shrubs and climbers. Good drainage and water capture with the stepped bank also helps keep landscape maintenance to a minimum. Using the depth for landscaping means significant growth can benefit sound suppression.

Grass Concrete offer retaining walls for garden or boundary walls that feature: planting, colour, shape or textured finish. The Betoconcept range delivers shape and style for vertical landscaping on high or low walls.
