Petal’s Thor Plus washroom cubicles provided the perfect blend of privacy, durability and contemporary design for this recently completed 6th Form Boarding Accommodation at St. Catherine’s School, Bramley.
Petal’s range of robust washroom solutions provided a practical yet stylish finish for this contemporary 6th Form Boarding Accommodation at St. Catherine’s School, Bramley. A bespoke approach was adopted for this three-storey new build project which incorporated 18 new washroom cubicles. A customised design was implemented into each set of cubicles to cater for both the WCs and shower facilities contained within each room.
Design that Lasts

Designing washrooms for educational settings brings a specific set of design considerations – with high traffic locations and the general horseplay associated with school age children combining to create a very demanding set of conditions for any washroom system.
Petal’s Thor range has been specifically designed with this in mind. With its semi-framed profile, three hinges per door and tamper proof fixings throughout, the system is built to withstand the rigours of any educational setting. In this project, the Thor Extra configuration was installed and, coupled with the low ceiling height detail, the cubicles enjoy enhanced privacy throughout.
Aesthetics
In design terms, the cubicles were carefully selected in a variety of subtle tones by the school’s design committee, with a customised design employed across the building’s three floors. Solid surface vanity units with bespoke solid surface shelving and seamless integral bowls were chosen to complete the look. A bespoke under counter cabinet was also installed to house baskets for wet towels and this also serves to provide emergency access to pipe valving. The project was completed by the application of Petal’s P300 Advanced Panel System wall duct access panelling. With soft radiused edges, this system is ideal for use in wet environments and areas of high wear, making it a popular selection in educational settings.
