Following a highly successful year of innovation, awards, and a product expansion, Diffusion has appointed Matthew Cooper as Sales Director, marking a significant step in the company’s next phase of growth. 2025 was a landmark year for the British heating and cooling equipment specialist with the launch of its New Modular Highline 275 fan coil range, followed by major industry recognition, including winning ‘Air Conditioning Product of the Year’ at the HVR Awards. The Modular Highline range has now secured two major awards, underlining Diffusion’s leadership in modular, energy-efficient, fan coil solutions.
Matthew joins Diffusion with over 20 years’ experience in the building services and construction industry, bringing extensive knowledge of working closely with consultants, contractors and architects. Highly respected and well-connected across the industry, Matthew has been appointed to oversee the company’s continued expansion, including the launch of an exciting new fan coil concept scheduled for this Spring.
Commenting on this appointment, Matthew said:
“I am excited to be joining a company that has had so many years of success and has a reputation for technical excellence and innovation. Diffusion’s products are exceptional, and it’s an exciting time to join a business with such a strong legacy and depth of expertise. I’m particularly looking forward to the launch of a new, innovative fan coil unit this Spring, which I believe will make a real impact across a wide range of applications.”
Alexis Roberts, Channel Marketing Manager at Diffusion added:
“We are delighted to welcome Matthew to Diffusion at such an important time for the business. His depth of experience, strong industry relationships and customer-focused approach make him an excellent fit for our team. As we continue to innovate, expand our product range and support customers with increasingly complex project requirements, his appointment will play a key role in driving our next phase of growth.”
Matthew’s role will focus on expanding Diffusion’s product portfolio, strengthening its already strong London presence, and increasing penetration across the wider UK market. His energy, enthusiasm, industry experience, and customer-focused approach complement Diffusion’s market-leading innovation, technical knowledge, and manufacturing expertise. Diffusion, a leading British manufacturer, has been designing and manufacturing heating and cooling equipment in the UK for 65 years, with the Diffusion sales and technical team boasting over 200 years of combined industry knowledge.
Customer focus sits at the heart of Matthew’s approach, with a clear emphasis on adding value, understanding project challenges and going the extra mile. His knowledge and enthusiasm align closely with Diffusion’s collaborative culture and its commitment to supporting customers from concept to delivery.
The company continues to respond to key industry challenges such as overheating in new-build homes, refurbishment of existing commercial buildings, and the growing importance of embodied carbon. With thousands of commercial buildings across the UK requiring refurbishment, Diffusion’s modular fan coils offer an ideal solution, allowing precise product selection to meet specifications without over-specifying, while supporting adaptability and long-term performance.
In addition to its HVR Award success, Diffusion previously won ‘Product or Innovation of the Year – Thermal Comfort’ at the CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2024 with the Modular Highline 235 Fan Coil Range. The company’s modular approach continues to gain recognition, with the Modular Highline 275 also shortlisted in the CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2026 within the same category. Across both ranges, the fan coils are almost endlessly configurable and designed to deliver quiet, high-performance, energy-efficient heating and cooling to create the perfect indoor environment.
Innovation is at the heart of everything Diffusion does. The higher-capacity Modular Highline 275 expands the range’s application while maintaining noise ratings as low as NR25, ensuring suitability for offices, high-end residential applications, and hotels. Its heat exchangers are specifically designed to achieve optimum heating and cooling performance using industry-predominant hot water and chilled water temperatures, while high-efficiency EC motor and fan assemblies deliver improved Specific Fan Powers (SFP) as low as 0.12 W/l/s.
Diffusion has adopted the CIBSE TM65 methodology and is progressing work on Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), reinforcing its commitment to transparency, embodied carbon reduction and responsible local sourcing. Modular design also enables reconfiguration, extending product life and supporting circular economy principles.
Architects continue to play a central role in Diffusion’s product development. The company offers extensive flexibility, including bespoke fan coil solutions tailored to specific architectural and performance requirements. Offering design flexibility, units can be ceiling-mounted, ceiling-exposed, underfloor or even integrated into wardrobes. Fan coils can also be powder-coated in a wide range of colours to support architects’ design-led schemes in commercial, hotel and high-end residential projects.
Looking ahead, Diffusion will continue to engage closely with specifiers through its popular Open Days, hosted at its UK manufacturing facility. These events provide architects, consultants and contractors with hands-on insight into manufacturing, a tour of testing rooms to witness acoustic, volumetric and thermal testing, as well as meeting the team, including John Hepper, Diffusion’s Technical Director. Those wishing to extend their visit can stay for lunch and attend a CIBSE-Approved CPD session.
With award-winning modular fan coils, an expanding product range, and the appointment of Matthew Cooper as Sales Director, Diffusion is well-positioned to build on its momentum and deliver the next generation of innovative, sustainable HVAC solutions.
