This new build property was installed with plastic slate tiles at a 15 degrees pitch. The design of the roof was very low pitched, which unfortunately led to the roof tiles leaking. ISOLINE LOW LINE was specified to rectify the issue.
The roof tiles were removed, and ISOLINE LOW LINE was fitted to the existing structure ensuring complete waterproofing. The same roof tiles were then re-installed over the ISOLINE sheets, not only saving time but also saving on the cost of purchasing new tiles.
This was the first time the Roofing Contractor, Steadfast Roofing had installed ISOLINE LOW LINE, and feedback was very positive with the installers stating “Onduline’s ISOLINE LOW LINE system is easy to install and great to work with”.
Initial Installation
The tiles were installed at a 15-degree pitch, which is the minimum recommended pitch for this type of tile. However, as time passed, it became clear that the design, combined with the low pitch of the roof, presented complications. Soon after the installation, the roof began to leak. This issue was identified as being a direct result of the water not being able to drain away quickly enough due to the 15-degree pitch. To resolve the situation, a more robust waterproofing solution was specified.
The leak and solution
ISOLINE LOW LINE was chosen as the primary waterproofing sub-roof material. This product is known for its excellent waterproofing capabilities and durability, designed specifically for use under a variety of roofing systems. Once the ISOLINE LOW LINE was installed beneath the existing roof tiles, it provided an impermeable layer that ensured water would be effectively redirected away from the roofing structure, even under challenging weather conditions.
Reinstallation of Roof Tiles
After the waterproofing layer was in place, the original plastic slate replica roof tiles were reinstated over the newly fitted ISOLINE LOW LINE sub-roof. The tiles were secured back into position, ensuring that they maintained their aesthetic appeal while benefiting from the enhanced protection offered by the ISOLINE system.
