Global architecture, urbanism and design practice Broadway Malyan has merged with architects DC3 and its sister company workplace design specialists WILL+Partners.
The move means Broadway Malyan will broaden and diversify the sectors and client-base it serves via its London studio, with initial targets including work in the life sciences and commercial sectors, alongside corporate real estate fit out and City-based companies.
Architecture practice DC3 was founded by John Drew, William Poole-Wilson and Therese Bak. Drew was a Partner at Foster & Partners where he spent 15 years and was responsible for a number of the practice’s City of London projects. Bak has worked in New York and London with SOM and, alongside Drew at Rafael Vinoly Architects. Over the years they worked collaboratively with William Poole-Wilson.
They bring extensive experience of high-profile developments in London and internationally, including projects such as Battersea Power Station Masterplan and 20 Fenchurch Street, known as the ‘Walkie Talkie’.
Ian Apsley, group managing director, Broadway Malyan, said:
“We are hugely excited to welcome Will, John and Therese as Principals and Design Directors. Their skills and experience will be hugely valuable in helping us broaden our client base particularly strengthening our commercial and research offers in the UK. We are also looking forward to getting them involved in current projects, adding their design flair and knowledge of highly complex schemes to our existing team.”
Stuart Rough, Broadway Malyan chair added:
“We have a fantastic client list for offices and commercial development across Europe and Asia in particular. The addition of John and Therese to the London team will, we hope, enable us to replicate this in the UK. Similarly welcoming WILL+Partners will complement our existing capability in workplace strategy and interiors.”
John Drew, director at DC3, said:
“We look forward to working with our new colleagues at Broadway Malyan to build successful relationships with our clients and deliver projects which combine great placemaking with the highest levels of sustainability.”
Therese Bak, director at DC3, added:
“Combining our collective experiences and connections will strengthen our global talent pool, resource and infrastructure to enable us to better service our clients both in the UK and internationally and enhance design quality.”
WILL+Partners, which specialises in innovative workplace design, spanning across a wide variety of sectors including banking & insurance, major corporates and third sector, will continue to operate under its existing brand for the foreseeable future. William Poole-Wilson, founder and managing director of WILL+Partners, will join Broadway Malyan’s executive board and lead workplace design accounts across the UK, whilst supporting the established teams internationally.
The merger will see the DC3 and WILL+Partners teams relocate to join Broadway Malyan’s established team in Waterloo, London.
