British Gypsum announces its finalists for international award

Three companies have been chosen by high-performance drylining solutions provider British Gypsum to go through to an international competition that recognises craftsmanship, quality and sustainability.

The 14th International Gypsum Trophy, to be held in Paris in April, celebrates the collaboration between the business and its customers by shining a light on their expertise. Twenty-nine countries will be represented, with 85 projects and 350 participants.

British Gypsum has put forward its winners from the UK National Trophy – Lovell Homes, Flynn Interiors and JJ Projects, which were chosen by a national jury, comprising Órla Whelan, Customer Solutions and Portfolio Development Director and Sector Directors Jonathan Cherry, Ian Winroth and Neil Shaw, plus Iain Mcilwee, FIS (Finishes and Interiors Sector) CEO.

They will compete in three categories – Lovell Homes was chosen in the Residential category for its Heath Farm development in Holt, Norfolk. Flynn Interiors was chosen for the Culture, Education and Leisure category for Gradel Quadrangles, part of Oxford University’s New College, while JJ Projects saw its work at HMP & YOI Stirling chosen for the Business and Institutional category.

Dean O’Sullivan, Managing Director said:

“The Gypsum Trophy is an opportunity to celebrate our customers. All our winning projects exhibited craftmanship, quality, and innovation, while presenting solutions that demonstrate how together we are building better for people and the planet.

“Competition was strong and everyone at British Gypsum wishes our winners the best of luck. We were delighted with the quality of entrants to our National Trophy and extend a warm congratulations to all the finalists.”

This year’s competition will reward excellence and innovation in the use of sustainable and lightweight plasterboard systems and plasters.

Any plasterboard or plastering contractor or professionals specialising in the traditional craft of plastering or mounting plasterboard systems is eligible to enter the competition which has been held bi-annually since 1998. This year there are six competition categories in total, covering Business & Institutional, Culture, Education & Leisure, Residential, Innovation, Façades and Ceilings.

The International Jury will select 14 winners of the International Gypsum Trophy 2025, with first and second prize in each category, plus the Grand Prix and the President’s Prize. The award winners will be announced at a special ceremony and gala dinner in Paris this April.
