Jay Morton, an architect at London practice Bell Phillips has confirmed she will be standing as Labour’s candidate in Chichester at the upcoming General Election.
Morton will run against Conservative incumbent Gillian Keegan at the poll on 12 December. She was raised in the Chichester area and attended Felpham Community College.
In her practice Morton focuses on social and affordable housing and public places, and is also involved with the campaign group Generation Rent as well as being a member of the Fabian Society.
She told the Chichester Observer: “We have a unique offer to the voters of Chichester, a vision of a society based on social justice and hope, a more equal society where opportunity is available to all.”
At the 2017 General Election, the Labour candidate finished second behind Keegan.
