BAL – UK market-leaders for full tiling solutions – have helped an Uxbridge school celebrate their 150th anniversary by providing fixing materials for a special tiled mural.
The large mural on the side of the school features a tree made up of handprints from every one of the 250 plus pupils and staff.
The mural was presented during an afternoon celebration with families of pupils old and new, plus the Deputy Mayor of Uxbridge who cut a special cake.
Site manager Gerry McGuire tiled the mural using BAL’s new Flex One enhanced S1 standard set adhesive and grouted with Micromax2 in Snow.
Suitable for use internally or externally, BAL Flex One has revolutionised the standard-set category with a long open and working time, excellent non-slip properties and six-hour set.
BAL Flex One gives fixers the freedom to perform with a thixotropic and fluid formulation with shape memory, full wettability and super smooth gel rheology, plus use up to 15mm bed depth which aids building out in problematic isolated areas – such as this project on external render.
BAL provided the materials, plus a full specification and fixing guidance through it’s free Technical Advisory Service.
Nicola Edwards, Headteacher at St Andrews, thanked BAL for their support with the project:
“I just want to express my thanks and appreciation for the support BAL have given to St. Andrew’s CofE Primary School through supplying us with the materials for our mosaic.
“We are incredibly impressed with the final mosaic, which our Site Manager was able to install on the wall outside the school for our special 150th Anniversary Celebrations.
“We had an amazing celebration afternoon last week when the final mosaic was unveiled and we have had so many positive comments about the wonderful, professional quality of the final result.
“Many thanks to BAL again for providing us with the materials which enabled us to make this a huge success.”
Alex Underwood, Head of Marketing at BAL added:
“We were delighted to support this fantastic project celebrating 150 years of St Andrews School. The mural looks amazing and is a fitting dedication to the school’s rich history.”
