An award-winning architecture practice in Leeds has appointed a junior architectural technologist apprentice as part of the firm’s commitment to investing in the next generation of industry talent.
Brewster Bye Architects has appointed Ciaran Cartwright who is also a Leeds College of Building student, like the firm’s first apprentice who joined in 2015.
Ciaran who is 20 years old and from Leeds. He said:
“I’m in my third year at Leeds College of Building studying for a Level 4 BTEC National Extended Certificate in Construction and the Built Environment. I will continue to go to college one day a week, with the rest of the week spent in the office. I can’t wait to get started, I’m really keen to get more practical experience and working at Brewster Bye will be a great opportunity to work on a vast range of stunning schemes across the north of England.”
Ciaran already has two years industry work experience working alongside a qualified architectural technician. At his placement, he helped with design concepts and construction packs for several projects, assisted with preparing information for planning applications, as well as liaising with engineers.

“Ciaran is already confident in AutoCAD and Revit, which are software applications we use, and he has a real interest in design and technology. He is keen to get a degree level qualification via the apprenticeship route and become an architectural technician, and we will support him every step of the way. He will work under the guidance of associate director, Matthew Seddon, on a number of projects which currently include everything from affordable housing projects, to extra care schemes, student accommodation, retirement homes and city centre apartments in Yorkshire and beyond.”
