Katell Ltd Acquired in Management Buyout by Andrew Hurworth

Charlton & Jenrick Ltd (C&J) is pleased to announce that Katell Ltd has been acquired by long-time Managing Director Andrew Hurworth in a management buyout completed on 4th February 2026.

Over the past 25 years, Katell has become a major supplier to the fireplace industry, specialising in high-quality UK-designed and manufactured electric suites and media walls from its Newton Aycliffe factory. Katell products are available through specialist retailers nationwide and are also specified by major builders and social housing providers. Its Suncrest range can be found online through many retailers. Aside from the change in ownership, it will be business as usual.

Peter Mintoft, Managing Director of C&J said:

“We are delighted that Andrew has now taken full ownership of Katell from the Charlton & Jenrick group,”

“The new structure provides the freedom for both organisations to grow and succeed. Katell’s team is tight-knit, energetic, and highly experienced with a great depth of knowledge.  C&J will continue to work closely with Katell as key partners, leveraging the group’s expertise to source and supply state of the art appliances to generate growth for both parties as major players in the fireplace industry.”

Andrew Hurworth commented:

“I am very pleased to be able to take on and develop Katell as a highly skilled UK manufacturer at our established Newton Aycliffe base. Our experienced team guarantees our manufacturing capabilities remain among the best in the UK. This gives us a great opportunity to build on our strengths and drive the business forward. Our National Sales Manager, Andrew Siddle, will continue to lead the sales team and would be delighted to discuss products and opportunities with both new and existing customers.”

This new chapter for Katell Ltd reinforces the company’s commitment to UK manufacturing excellence and continued collaboration with retailers and industry partners, ensuring innovative, high-quality fireplace solutions for the market.
