With the launch of the Parkside x Coco Lom British-made terrazzo tile collection, launches in sustainable tile choices, a packed programme of terrazzo making workshops and the famous Lockley’s Cocktail Lounge; this year’s Clerkenwell Design Week was one to remember.
For three days in May, Parkside Architectural Tiles opened the doors of its Sustainability and Design Studio to welcome in Clerkenwell Design Week. With over 1,600 visitors making a stop at the Sekforde Street location a part of their visit to the design festival, it proved a huge success.
A collaboration with Hackney-based artist Coco Lom saw her take inspiration from the colourful Parkside x Coco Lom capsule collection of 100% British-made terrazzo, painting a live mural during the event. Coco Lom was also on hand to show workshoppers how to create unique and beautiful terrazzo coasters alongside Ethical Stone, makers of the collection.
Parkside also launched two more sustainable tile choices in Alusid Mas and Criaterra 2.0. Alusid Mas transforms low value waste into a ceramic tile with the world’s lowest carbon footprint. Criaterra 2.0 is an improved version of the previous generation, enjoying improved performance while maintaining its 100% natural and biodegradable composition.
Now a famous part of Clerkenwell Design Week, the Thursday afternoon saw a ‘meet the makers’ session before Lockley’s Cocktail Lounge got underway with a cocktail masterclass and carried on the party late into the evening.
Jonathan Wiles, director of commercial sales, said: “Clerkenwell Design Week is always something we look forward to and with so much going on in the studio, it felt like a really good year. The team were delighted to welcome so many people in to check out the Parkside x Coco Lom collection, get up to speed with our latest sustainable tile choices and take part in hands-on workshops.
“For those that didn’t get to pop in during CDW or that visited and wanted to spend a little more time, the good news is the studio is open daily. Just come along to Sekforde Street to check out the Parkside x Coco Lom collection, get up to speed with our latest sustainable tile choices, or just have a coffee and collect any samples for your latest projects.”
