Join us on Tuesday 6 June for Architects’ Day, taking place within the seminar theatre at the Natural Stone Show
Delivering an invaluable insight for architects, the workshop Stone – laying the foundations for a sustainable future offers around five hours of CPD-accredited learning opportunities plus a complimentary lunch. Click here to register free
In a world of global warming and biodiversity degradation, stone has an essential role to play in the journey towards net zero. It is a building material with a low carbon footprint that can help cut the energy consumption of a building in use thanks to its thermal mass and shadow-casting dimensions. There are no man-made power-gulping high temperature transformations required in the making of natural stone. Nature has already provided the heat and pressure needed to convert its natural minerals into a finished product that is typically stronger than concrete. Find out more at our architects’ day.
Sessions include:
- The what, why & how of EPDs
The relevance and practicalities of Environmental Product Declarations for the stone industry. - Studies in stone: award-winning projects discussed
Architects present a series of award-winning New Build, Landscaping, Interior and Repair & Restoration projects, with the session culminating in the announcement of the ‘Industry Choice’ award for the UK’s favourite stone project. - Ethical & responsible sourcing of natural stone
Do you know where and how your stone has been sourced? Is the process improving or damaging communities and what are its environmental impacts?
Attendance is free, provided you pre-register by 16 May.
Sustainability Meets Design
Also at this year’s show is the MaterialDistrict-curated experience of over 100 innovative surfaces. Unexpected performance and stunning aesthetics will be found in materials featured for their lightweight recycled content, their durability and other distinct properties and visual appeal. There are products for exterior and interior use created to satisfy both form and function.
The development of hard materials is all about new surfaces, sustainable challenges, and creative digital techniques for smarter ways to add that wow-factor to construction.
