Street furniture manufacturer, Townscape Products Limited, has unveiled its first range of environmentally friendly solar bollards.
solispost™ bollards are solar powered illuminated bollards which utilise cutting edge technology. The innovative bollards offer two levels of illumination; they provide continual illumination after dark at a low level and a higher level of illumination is automatically activated as a person approaches the bollard.
This new combined bollard and lighting solution requires no electrical connections and provides lighting which is visible from 10 metres at lower level lighting and 20 metres at its brighter setting.
solispost™ bollards are designed with four vertical solar energy collection panels each with a power point tracking input to maximise solar energy gathering. The solar cells powering the LEDs in solispost™ bollards are powered by ultra violet (UV) light, rather than sunshine. This means that even on an overcast day the bollard can generate sufficient energy to sustain the full operation of the illumination system. A fully charged illuminated solispost™ bollard can provide continuous lower lighting level for up to 10 days without any charging. Each bollard can be fully charged in under eight hours of daylight.
Jonathan Goss, managing director of Townscape Products, said: “Sustainability is an important requirement in the specification of street furniture so we wanted to develop a bollard which is not only environmentally friendly, but also cost effective.
“solispost™ bollards have zero energy costs and have been designed for easy installation. The bollards economically and sustainably illuminate areas and pathways helping to increase safety and visibility. Our customers have been asking for a solar bollard and we have listened to their requirements today we are excited to launch this new product.”
The environmentally friendly technology in solispost™ bollards is ideal for walkways, cycle paths, car parks, educational campuses, parks and recreational grounds, retail and leisure facilities, housing estates and city centre street scenes.
The launch of solispost™ bollards is part of Townscape’s 40th anniversary celebrations. Jonathan Goss added:
“We have been manufacturing and supplying high quality street furniture from our Nottinghamshire factory for four decades and the launch of solipost™ bollards reinforces our commitment to continue to innovative and lead the way for street furniture development in the UK.”
