Sika launches major projects team

Sika has launched a Major Projects Team, bringing together the group’s expertise from across its waterproofing, concrete, sealing and bonding, flooring, refurbishment and roofing businesses to offer a holistic approach to supporting a project from design through to completion.

Leveraging expertise that spans 93 countries and Sika’s 17,000 employees worldwide, 1,200 of whom are employed in research and development roles, the Major Projects Team works with architects, consultants and contractors offering a joined up approach to design taking into account performance, durability, sustainability and buildability. The team will support best fit specification, with integrated solutions that are engineered for an improved built environment, added value and reduced whole life costs.

Explains Steve Squire, head of Sika Major Projects:

“Sika’s focus on innovation and product development has led to the specification of our products on major schemes worldwide and the significant growth that Sika has achieved.  That’s great, but we knew we could do more.”

“We want to work smarter with the delivery chain to help identify areas where we can integrate solutions to enhance the performance of a structure, improve buildability, identify sustainable solutions, reduce risk and cost.”

“In addition to tapping into our Major Projects team’s  expertise, delivery partners will also be able to streamline the procurement and technical specification processes, helping to manage costs and time more effectively.”

The Sika Major Projects division offers a single point of contact for all project requirements, including design support, specification writing, performance feasibility and life cycle/sustainability analysis. The team is also equipped to offer BIM support and drawing assistance for standard and bespoke details and can offer value engineering advice at design stage with unbiased assistance in specifying best fit systems.

Complementing the wide range of sectors serviced by Sika’s individual product groups, Sika Major Projects Team will work across the retail, power, education, healthcare, transport, leisure, sports stadia, pharmaceutical, urban development and international development sectors.

Steve adds:

“The construction sector is firmly focused on improving the built environment and ensuring that sustainability is built in to every scheme.  However, delivery partners face substantial cost, time and procurement management challenges: working in partnership with the supply chain can help them address these.”

“Sika Major Projects Team is committed to working with designers and contractors in a way that will help address those challenges to improve outcomes on both individual projects and across the built environment.”
