Planning permission granted for £15m “landmark” Sheffield city centre residential development.

CODA Planning have  gained planning permission for Phase 1 of what is set to become one of Sheffield’s biggest non-student city centre residential development.

Sited on the corner of Chatham Street and Mowbray Street, the 5-9 storey development will create a landmark building at the gateway to Neepsend in the popular Kelham Island area.

Designed by CODA Architecture for property developer Knight Knox, Great Central Phase 1 comprises 131 apartments around a large internal courtyard, a commercial unit, cycle storage, car parking, landscaping, amenity space and public realm improvements.

The Great Central development, once both phases are complete, will contain over 200 studios, one, two and three-bedroom apartments with two ground floor commercial units.

It is anticipated that construction will start on site in March 2018 for completion in September 2019 and will create around 100 construction jobs.
