New Office Director for Turley in Birmingham – a city facing an exciting 2015

Planning consultancy Turley has appointed Mat Jones to the position of Office Director in Birmingham, vacated by Mike Best who takes up a senior company executive role.

Mat joined Turley in March 2014 as a Director from Deloitte, where he was head of its planning team in Birmingham. Turley in Birmingham has a strong team of 17 planning professionals and four sustainability consultants, and an outstanding track record in the city and across the Midlands.

Mat will work alongside fellow Directors David Smith, Angela Reeve, who also joined Turley from Deloitte in 2014, and Head of Turley Sustainability Colin Morrison. Mike Best will also remain actively involved in project work in the Midlands alongside his new role as Executive Director for business development and communications.
Turley has enjoyed its best year of growth in Birmingham since the recession, and between them the Director team in has been involved in several of the major projects which will be showcased in and around the city in 2015 including Paradise, New Street Station, the Barclaycard Arena, Resorts World at the NEC, and Edgbaston cricket ground. Mat also secured planning permission for the redevelopment of Martineau Galleries, which is expected to be a key site for the future regeneration of the city centre linked to the arrival of HS2.

Turley is also advising on a wide range of residential projects for housebuilders and strategic land promoters, many of them involving expert witness evidence at appeals and appearance at development plan examinations across the region. It also works for industry-leading clients in sectors such as logistics, energy and higher education.
