BSRIA is delighted to be staging a new and exciting three day industry course: Disability Access Legislation & Surveys which will ensure you are up to speed with all current legislation and guidelines to gurantee your building fully conforms with the DAA (Disability Access Audit).
Are you aware of current legislation relating to the Disability Access Audit? Is your building conforming to the correct guidelines? What has your company done to address this?
The DAA is the evaluation of a building or service and its accessibility to disabled people. The course will give delegates an overall understanding of the laws and legislation surrounding DAA. Delegates will undertake a tutored Disabilities Access Audit under the guidance of the course lecturer.
The course will be held @ BSRIA’s HQ in Bracknell.
Mike Lee, BSRIA Training Manager, said:
“This is another fantastic new course in BSRIA’s 2018 suite of training now being offered. It is designed to be a hands-on interactive learning experience, rather than simply ‘chalk and talk’.
“This training course will give you the skills and knowledge required to understand an inspection of a site and how to best approach any issues from a member of the public angle.
“Background to the legislation will be explained with a detailed review of the relevant disability legislation and what the disability agenda is. Medical and social models of disability and modern thinking about the disability agenda will be highlighted. Along with types of disability and how to avoid discrimination.
“A practical on site review will cover: barriers to disability including: car parks, access routes and external ramps and stairs, entrances, receptions, toilets and changing facilities. Fixtures, furnishings, equipment and lighting are all on the agenda.”
