Building envelope specialist, CA Group Limited, has today announced the completion of its latest development at Canning Town Business Park, in London, which features sections of living wall incorporated into the building’s façade.
The project, carried out on behalf of Goya Developments, together with Yorkshire Sheeting, was shortlisted in the category of vertical cladding/rainscreen, in the 2014 Roofing Awards and comprises twelve units of commercial office and warehouse space, located within one mile of the Olympic Stadium.
Neil Alderson, Commercial Director for CA Building Products, commented:
“Plans for the Canning Town scheme incorporated multiple renewable and sustainable technologies. We worked closely with the core team on the project, including PRC architects, from the outset enabling us to share our expertise from a building envelope perspective.
“The result was a revised specification which incorporated PRIME V, CA Group’s large rainscreen panels, interspersed with sections of living wall, which not only reduced the timescale needed to complete the project, but enhanced the overall look of the buildings as well as contributing to the developer’s sustainability objectives.”
The PRIME range, which is based on a cassette panel mechanism which interlocks at the uppermost edge to conceal the fixings, represents the unification of CA’s rainscreen offer. It has been developed to integrate seamlessly with the company’s River-Therm® and Twin-Therm® built up roof and wall cladding systems, which provide a cost-effective insulated backing wall. Together the system delivers a winning combination of robust protection and the flexibility to create a range of striking finishes.
Stephen Long, Yorkshire Sheeting & Insulation Services Limited commented:
“We chose the CA rainscreen system due to the ease and simplicity it provided during installation, a factor which greatly assisted in accelerating the programme and ultimately enabled us to exceed the client’s expectations.”
CA Group’s PRIME offer has been fully tested by the Centre for Window and Cladding Technology and is backed by a meaningful 25-year guarantee. The buildings at Canning Town are also protected by LPS1181 on both the roof and the walls.
