In the event of a fire, smoke build-up is a key concern, threatening the lives of occupants while obscuring escape routes.
FDS Consult, one of the UK’s leading experts in fire design engineering, is offering a free webinar on Wednesday 23rd April from 1pm, providing expert advice on smoke ventilation including legislative guidance backed by a range of case study examples.
Hosted by Managing Director Michel Wizenberg, the one hour event will discuss the benefits of both natural and mechanical smoke ventilation systems for a range of different sectors.
Speaking of the upcoming event, Michel said:
“Designing an appropriate smoke venting system as part of the overall fire strategy for a project can ensure that fire safety standards are achieved and may potentially reduce build costs, achieve enhanced design flexibility and maximise floor space.
“In the event of a fire, providing a safe route out of the building for occupants, while allowing access for fire fighting purposes, is vital. Through the use of modern fire engineering techniques such as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) it’s possible to show how smoke would move through a space in the event of fire, this can justify the use of mechanical smoke ventilation systems which provide protection by removing smoke from common areas.”
