EWI system has outstanding thermal, fire protection and acoustic properties

The Warm Wall Plus external wall insulation system from Knauf Marmorit combines excellent thermal performance with outstanding fire protection and acoustic insulation properties.

Suitable for use on new build or refurbishment projects, it enables bright, low-maintenance insulated facades to be created simply, with no need for additional fire breaks.

A multi-layered system, Warm Wall Plus incorporates Knauf’s innovative Rocksilk fire-resistant mineral fibre insulation at its core. Manufactured using ‘Krimpact’ technology, which re-aligns the mineral wool strands during production, it provides a solid and robust supporting substrate with a consistent density and an A1 fire classification to BS EN ISO 13501-1. Available in a range of thicknesses from 20mm to 200mm to meet a variety of thermal performance requirements, it has an A+ rating in the BRE Green Guide.

Warm Wall Plus can be applied to virtually any substrate and to timber or steel-framed structures. A typical system comprises a layer of Knauf SM700PRO adhesive behind the mineral fibre insulation on top of which is applied an SM700PRO basecoat and 4mm x 4mm reinforcing mesh. A coat of aqueous emulsion and quartzsand primer precedes the application of a top coat of either Knauf Marmorit’s Noblo or Conni S renders to create the desired finish.

Noblo and Conni S are just two options from Knauf Marmorit’s broad range of through-coloured render finishes which include acrylic, mineral, silicon or marble-based renders in a variety of grain sizes and over 500 colour variants.

When applied to a substrate of 140mm medium dense blockwork, a Warm Wall Plus system with 100mm of mineral wool insulation will achieve a U-value of 0.24 W/m2K.

The system is complete with a broad range of complementary components for fixing and trimming and its application is further simplified using Knauf Marmorit’s Quix XL Plus system, which quickly and easily creates a base that is free of thermal bridges.
