Dow Building Solutions has updated its RIBA-approved online CPD, “Specifying insulation for inverted flat roofing”, which is worth double points.
The CPD offers advice on how to assess the suitability of different insulation products for inverted flat roofs. Summaries of relevant building regulations are included, as well as major issues to be aware of, such as roof falls, drainage and ponding. It also gives key pointers to bear in mind when reviewing U-value calculations for such applications. Access it at: www.ribacpd.com/dow-building-solutions/02540/overview.
Dow has also released a guide on making U-value calculations for inverted flat roofs. Authored by Dr Steve Johnson, Technical Manager for the STYROFOAM insulation manufacturer, it outlines key considerations such as the importance of location, design and declared lambda values, moisture absorption and rainwater cooling. Copies are available from dbsuk(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)dow.com or www.styrofoam.co.uk.
