Assael Architecture steps outside with the launch of Assael Exteriors

Award-winning practice, Assael Architecture, has launched Assael Exteriors, a division dedicated to masterplanning, urban design and landscaping.

Assael Exteriors’ vision is to design urban landscapes and public realm that enhance urban environments by integrating sustainability, health, technology and beauty, tying architecture to its local environment. Assael Exteriors understands the critical role of placemaking in urban environments and their mission is to create spaces that contribute to the liveability and function of city spaces.

The new division has been created to seamlessly connect the design and architecture of Assael’s buildings to the public realm that surrounds them, providing clients with an integrated service and residents with an engaging environment.

Assael will extend their innovative approach to Building Information Modelling (BIM) into the newly launched Assael Exteriors arm, helping coordinate and streamline the entire build process across all design disciplines.

Additionally, with this launch, the practice aims to expand their collaborative work with the biodiversity and sustainability sectors, helping to improve the urban environment in light of increasing environmental pressures. Assael Exteriors will be putting sustainability at the heart of their design process, aiming to create spaces that seek to counter the effects of climate change and reduce cities’ growing carbon footprints.

For this reason, Assael has chosen to launch their newly established landscape architecture division during their Green Week, a week of events and talks that celebrates the latest in sustainable design, biophilia and mitigating technologies.

Speakers at Green Week, hosted at Assael’s recently expanded offices, include Emily Loquidis from Aecom, Jo Wilson an independent researcher, Kavita Kumari from Cundall and Morgan Taylor from Greengage.

Heading up Assael Exteriors is Donald Roberts, an urban designer and landscape architect with 10 years of experience. Donald has honed his skills at an array of prestigious practices, including, Churchmans, PRP and Farrer Huxley Associates, where he trained the designers in BIM.

Donald Roberts, senior landscape architect at Assael Exteriors, said:

“It is a pleasure to be leading the Assael Exteriors division at a time of growth for the wider Assael practice. Assael Exteriors will complement the practice’s architectural and interior design services, creating a unified offering that will deliver projects to the highest standards, while using the latest innovative technologies and build methods.”

Assael Exteriors is currently working on a project for a brownfield site in Hillingdon and proposals for a Build to Rent development in East London.

Félicie Krikler, director at Assael Architecture, said:

“The launch of Assael Exteriors is a hugely important moment for us as it is the final piece for us in offering a holistic and integrated design service for our clients. Following Assael Interiors, the new division came as a natural progression as our practice continues to go from strength to strength. For us, the outside has always been just as important as the inside, and with the launch of this new division, we will be able to deliver well-designed schemes that consistently flow from the inside-out.”
