AM2 Architects announces completion of three new luxury lodges at premier Nottinghamshire venue

Works have now completed on a series of luxury holiday lodges at popular events and wedding venue Goosedale – set in the idyllic countryside of Papplewick in Nottinghamshire.

Designed by Nottinghamshire-based firm AM2 Architects, the first three luxury houses, titled Goosedale Lodges, are now complete as part of phase one of the ongoing project, and available for self-catering bookings.

The bespoke, contemporary lodges have been constructed with timber and steel frames for a modern and sleek finish, and feature underfloor heating and natural Siberian larch timber cladding.

Each lodge also boasts an environmentally-friendly roof with planted green foliage, to blend into the surrounding picturesque countryside and adhere to modern eco design aspirations and codes.

AM2 Architects, which has offices in both Newark in Nottinghamshire, and Gibraltar in Spain, has been involved with the innovative project since 2014. The firm were tasked with creating a development to further enhance the offering at the venue in terms of key positioning, aesthetics and sustainability, while also creating a bespoke holiday experience with stunning views over the lake and hill.

The team is providing RIBA Stages 0 to 7 including initial design and concept, planning pack, detailed construction packages, building regulations, onsite coordination and contract admin on the scheme.

A further six lodges at Goosedale, taking the total to nine, are being constructed in 2020 as the second stage of phase one of the project.

It is hoped that further lodges will be created in the future, following the success of the first batch.

Speaking on the inspiration behind the lodges’ design, director at AM2 Architects, Jonathan Metcalfe said: “We wanted to step away from the standard size and shape of the usual lodges you see at venues and parks, so we researched individual locations across the globe, which gave us great insight into the detail that was being used in the creation of projects.

“This detail ensured that each development was personal to the people who designed and created them, which in turn made their lodges a unique offering.

“Using that research as our inspiration, we decided to create a bespoke and luxury experience at Goosedale – maximising on the idyllic countryside location and surrounding sweeping views but offering a contemporary and sleek place to stay.

“It is very exciting to see the scheme taking shape on site. We are looking forward to seeing it progress with the addition of six further lodges and enhance an already impressive venue, and grow into a leading attraction for the area.”
