5G Studio Collaborative is the architect for the new AC and Residence Inn by Marriott that will open in Dallas in 2018.
The 5G Studio-designed AC and Residence Inn by Marriott Dallas North is one of the early architectural trendsetters in the four-billion-dollar Dallas Midtown master plan that will transform the area just east of Galleria Dallas and north of LBJ Expressway.
The City of Dallas created a new Form-Based ordinance for the Dallas Midtown master plan to promote the growth of liveable and sustainable communities. The Dallas Midtown master plan includes 9,000 residential units, one million SF of retail, restaurants and entertainment and an 18-acre park.
The AC Hotel and Residence Inn by Marriott Dallas North project will be co-developed by Civitas Capital Group and Atlantic and managed by an affiliate of Atlantic, providing a visually compelling aesthetic, setting an architectural tone for future building and design in this dynamic and key growth area of Dallas.
AC Hotels was founded in 1998 by Antonio Catalán and has properties located throughout Europe, Mexico and the United States. AC Hotels and Marriott formed a joint venture in 2011 and the AC Hotels by Marriott brand celebrates the beauty of classic modern design borne of its Spanish roots and European soul. Residence Inn by Marriott is the pioneer and global leader in the extended-stay segment, with more than 700 properties located in the North America, Europe, the Middle East and Central America. Designed for long stays, Residence Inn properties are all-suite hotels that offer studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom suites that feature signature amenities and services to meet the need of every type of traveler.
The dual-branded AC and Residence Inn by Marriott Dallas North will feature 256 guest rooms in five stories and more than 10,000 sf of meeting space near the intersection of James Temple Drive and Noel Road, as well as an attached 267-space structured parking garage.
5G’s architecture for the AC and Residence Inn by Marriott Dallas North development provides an engaging and innovative aesthetic, merging AC Hotels’ Spanish architectural heritage with the modern urban architecture that is representative of the dynamism of Dallas. The design relies on a precisely fabricated metal rainscreen cladding system, at once capturing the handmade craft quality and the crispness of a digitally produced pattern. The project explores and dares new design possibilities to propose a new direction for the architecture of Texas.
