Mizen Group has acquired a new development site with planning for a 14-storey mixed-use tower on Gwynne Road, Battersea, providing 33 new apartments including 11 affordable units.
As part of the regeneration Mizen has also agreed to fund a £290k comprehensive upgrade to facilities at the neighbouring community park on Harroway Gardens.
Formerly the site of a light industrial unit, the new £22m GDV scheme is located just a stone’s throw from the River Thames and the increasingly chic Battersea Village. It will deliver commercial offices on the ground and first floors and a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments above.
Designed by Wimshurst Pelleriti, headed up by former Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners duo Will Wimhurst and Leonardo A Pelleriti, the tower will be a new landmark building in a part of Battersea ripe for regeneration, just a few minutes walk from Clapham Junction station.
Development will commence this autumn and is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2018, with six units already pre sold.
Barry Tansey, CEO of the Mizen Group, said: “Battersea is an area undergoing huge transformation to become one of the most desirable places to both live and work in the capital and we are delighted to part of its ongoing regeneration. Our scheme will provide a striking new landmark and will further enhance Battersea’s new identity as a thriving community for young professionals and families.”
