28 September saw the Lighting Industry Association (LIA) welcome its Members, Government officials, key industry figures and academia to celebrate the launch of the Lighting Industry Academy (The Academy)
The Academy was official opened by LIA CEO Steve Davies and the Deputy Mayor of Telford and Wrekin, Councillor Stephen Reynolds. The day also showcased this unique and inspirational environment with a seminar event on ‘Brexit and its impact on the UK lighting industry’.
The Academy, funded in part by the Government’s Regional Growth Fund is envisaged to be the industry’s home for learning. The perfect environment to bring all of the relevant training providers together under a single umbrella. Becoming a central point of access for lighting related learning with the assurance of a consistent quality whilst creating the pathways of career development.
As technologies evolve, our industry and the wider lighting community must retain and develop its skilled workforce whilst attracting the talent of tomorrow. This can now be achieved through the Academy.
Many of our industry’s major players realising the importance of the Academy have committed to its vision and goals by becoming Academy Ambassadors.
These and future Ambassadors will have a significant role in establishing and promoting the Academy’s education and skills portfolio across the lighting community.
With the Academy now firmly established at the LIA headquarters in Telford, our industry has the foundation to develop the Lighting Community for a Bright and Exciting Future.
