BDP has appointed three new principals who will join the company’s board of directors from 1 July 2018.
Architect Sue Emms is responsible for delivering some of BDP’s most innovative and award winning educational projects and leads the sector in the north of England. She is an active champion of good design and a holistic, sustainable approach to building, epitomised in the acclaimed St John Bosco Arts College and Enterprise South Liverpool Academy. She is a Visiting Practice Professor at the University of Sheffield and in 2015 she won the Architect of the Year category at the Women in Construction Awards.
Architect Nick Fairham leads the design studio in Bristol, and is widely experienced in delivering major projects which create new sustainable communities with integrated uses. He is passionate about improving the built environment in the south west and improving lives through good design.
Simon Riley leads BDP’s project management team in the south region providing planning, management and monitoring of both our internal design processes and the implementation phases of a wide variety of projects for our clients in support of our design efforts. His team is also involved in fee bidding and determining the optimum commercial strategy for significant and long term, interdisciplinary commissions around the world.

In this respect we are delighted to invite Sue Emms, Nick Fairham and Simon Riley to become principals of BDP. All have already excelled in their current role within the practice and we are confident that their guidance and direction will enhance and maintain the continuing good performance of the practice for years to come.”
BDP has also made seven more appointments at director level: architects Frank Loehner, Lindsey Mitchell, Kate Sanders and Mihalis Walsh, sustainability consultant Philip Gray, interior designer Sheela Shukla and building services engineer Simon Thurstan.
